This course introduces students to the Event Industry, including how the industry interacts and has an economic impact in businesses, associations, and society in general. The sectors within the industry are explored through both the buyer/supplier perspective and the related potential career opportunities in both. The five phases of event planning and the six A's of guest experience are introduced as the foundation to the practice of planning successful events. Students are introduced to the tasks and best practices event planners undertake to successfully conceptualize, develop, plan, execute, and evaluate events. Guest speakers, field trips, association speakers, industry panels and viewing events are utilized as methods to convey real world experiences and creates the opportunity for students to apply their learning.
