This course will prepare students for an entry-level position in retail buying and planning. A fundamental understanding of apparel buying will provide students with a broader knowledge base, enabling them to excel in various areas of the industry. Students will engage in a simulated buying experience, covering demand forecasting, merchandise planning, in-season requirements via open-to-buy, assortment planning, and vendor negotiations. The concept of omnichannel retail profitability will be thoroughly examined as students strategize for retail success through hands-on experiences working with an actual retail store and engage in simulated global product negotiations.
