The Canadian retail environment has been evolving for decades, but competition is increasing rapidly as global retailers have become major players in the Canadian retail landscape. This course explores fundamentals about retail operation strategies with focus on store location, store design/layout and visual presentation, human resources management, marketing, customer relationship management and international retail. Case studies and in-class discussion in addition to an independent study and major group project will investigate the strategies used by current fashion retailers that operate within the Canadian marketplace.
