This course will prepare students for a variety of jobs in either retail, wholesale, marketing or manufacturing as they pertain to international business. The student will evaluate global issues that apply directly to the apparel/textile industry such as trade barriers, sustainability, regional trade agreements, and consumption. Through case studies and articles, the student will look at some important business strategies devised by companies that have globalized successfully. Time will also be spent analyzing unique cultures and business opportunities that exist among different countries. It provides a thorough overview of the importance of importing and exporting as the major international activity of most small and medium-size businesses and its extensive use by all global companies. Students will review and evaluate import and export opportunities and develop an international business plan. They will also study and analyze international distribution and logistics, and consider non-export modes of market penetration.
