This course examines the fundamentals of the life and health insurance industry in Canada and the types of insurance products available to meet the needs of the Canadian consumer. Students will review the ethics and professional practice of insurance and important elements and taxation implications of the main insurance products: life insurance, accident & sickness insurance and segregated funds and annuities. They will also review client needs assessment, the application and underwriting process, and the basics of product pricing. This course provides students with the necessary study requirements to write the four required certification exams. Upon successful completion of those exams, students are then certified to write the Life License Qualification Program (LLQP) provincial exams and subsequently become licensed as a life insurance agent.
