This course examines the global economic environment and surveys the key institutions and processes of international finance from the point of view of the financial management of the multinational enterprise (MNE). The course begins with international economic and monetary institutions and trade flows and relationships. It then moves on to the foreign exchange market, international parity conditions and exchange rate determination, and related financial instruments. Focus then shifts to foreign exchange exposure management. Specialized topics addressed afterwards include foreign direct investment (FDI) and political risks, international cost of capital, international capital budgeting, international tax environment and transfer pricing, and international trade finance and promotion.
