This course is a foundation for understanding and evaluating fixed income investments. The basic features of a bond are explored, including types of issuers, coupons, maturities, credit-worthiness, currencies, and markets. Different classes of securities, such as government, corporate, and asset-backed are examined. Key aspects of bond valuation are explored including bond pricing given market discount rates and spot rates, the flat price and full price of bonds, and matrix pricing. Various yield, convexity, and duration measures are explained along with their implications for bond price risk. Credit analysis used to evaluate a bond's credit risk is examined. Credit rating agencies and the role they play are also outlined.
