Building on the knowledge and skills acquired in Canadian Investment Securities 1, students expand and refine the professional competencies required for investment and/or financial planning careers in the financial services industry. Students conduct a technical analysis of the financial health of companies and compare the company to industry standards to determine the expected return and risk of investing in the company. Students explore specialized investment products to identify situations where such products should be recommended to clients. Students learn the advantages of investing in a portfolio. On completion of the Financial Planning Program, students will qualify to challenge the Chartered Financial Planner licensing exam and will be prepared to challenge the exams leading to the Life Insurance and Canadian Securities licenses. In combination with Canadian Investment Securities 1, students prepare for investment and/or financial planning careers in the financial services industry.
