In this lab-based, practical course, students work on developing a wide range of exercise science laboratory skills with a professional approach, while applying their theoretical knowledge in the collection and interpretation of test data. Building on the knowledge and skills acquired in previous courses, this course provides students with the tools required to assess a client's current fitness status and health-related behaviours. It covers a systematic approach for the appraisal of fitness and lifestyle in order to effectively counsel apparently healthy individuals, emphasizing the health benefits of physical activity. Students apply their knowledge and acquire new practical skills in administering a variety of assessment methodologies and information gathering techniques in a fully equipped fitness assessment laboratory.
