Course Code: FITM 158
Academic Year: 2025-2026
This course introduces theories of behaviour change and occurs concurrently with WORK 209 (Experiential Learning in Fitness). In the Experiential Learning course, students are assigned to a client from the community and are encouraged to practice and apply their counselling and communication skills with their assigned client as they work through a desired behaviour change. Skills such as effective communication, including sending and receiving messages, virtual care and nonverbal communication, are essential for success in the fitness and wellness field. Learners will interact with the assigned client to build rapport while meeting clients with needs, expectations, preferences and scheduling.
