This course is designed to introduce students to film writing through the application of creative writing and stories to the structures of film. Students draw on personal experience as well as imagination to find material that may become the foundation of a film story. They will also learn the basic precepts of rewriting, a major principle of film writing. Students create a character and a monologue in the character's voice in order to explore the multi-dimensionality of fictional characters. Students learn to analyze and evaluate their own work as well as the writing of their peers.
