This course is designed to apply the critical understanding of the language and grammar of "moving-images" to the preparation ans hooting of the Personal Media Project. This semester focuses on essential aspects of the director's role in pre-production such as casting, pre-visualization, storyboarding, the shooting script and locations. The course also delves into the history of Canadian cinema and the work of key Canadian filmmakers. Students explore the elements of filmmaking, such as theme, story, cinematography, sound design and montage, in order to isolate the power of each in order to articulate their ideas and strengthen their own work. As a practical application, each student meets individually with the instructor to present his or her vision and level of preparedness as a director of the personal media project.
