This course is a comprehensive study of production management techniques used in the film and television production industry. Emphasis will be placed on using established media production organizational methods, paperwork, budgeting, scheduling and reporting practices. The first part of this course focuses on the research, development, planning, practical organization, management, delivery and screening of a professional short documentary film. Students will model a professional documentary crew. They will build their crew's distinctive plan to budget, produce, post and distribute/market their film while adhering to strict delivery deadlines. The latter part of the course will be devoted to establishing a plan to begin pre-production on the studio drama projects, scheduled to shoot in second semester.
