Course Code: FOTO 156

Academic Year: 2025-2026

In a world of instant digital images, students can still learn a great deal from the analogue techniques of early photography. Ideas of light and dark, highlight and shadow, and chemistry on paper, can form a deeper level of photographic practice. This course will examine the historical significance, aesthetic, and technical properties of past photographic processes from the salted print to platinum and beyond. Throughout this course, students gain hands on experience creating one of a kind photographic prints.
