In this course, students analyze the organization of the 3-levels of government in Canada. This includes an examination of the different types of legislation that govern the public service. Students conduct a thorough exploration of current issues facing municipalities and the relationship with the respective provinces. The class explores and debates the challenges faced by Public Safety Professionals, related to political structure and the unique make up of all municipalities within the province. Participants critique and evaluate the complexities of the governmental system and how they fit within it. Students emerge from this course prepared to interpret public policy and regulations in order to provide informed recommendations to stakeholders at all levels of fire services and government.
