This course is designed to provide the student with a broad historical knowledge of graphic design and theoretical frameworks for the many principles of current design composition and communication. This course focuses on historical design movements throughout the 19th - 21st centuries through the lens of social, cultural, and political contexts. Students will research, discuss, and present various design artefacts that connect personal identity, cultural influences, social advocacy, and politics to analyze how they informed current visual design communications through the use of technology.
