This course explores the socio-political implications of key historical events in the Post World War II era. Through engaging lectures, interactive small group activities, audio-visual supports, and self-directed research assignments, students analyze a range of topics including the global reach of the Cold War, revolutions and military interventions in Asia, conflicts in the Middle East, 9/11, decolonization, Indigenous sovereignty, identity, injustice, and human experience. Students will learn to critically assess historical data and develop their understanding of the importance of considering multiple perspectives in the analysis of historical events. Upon completion of the course, students will be equipped to assess current issues through an understanding of recent history.
