This Mac-lab based course introduces the student to the craft of typography through the study of a brief history, the selection of type for a target market, font management, type size, elements of spacing (kerning, tracking, leading), hierarchy and the avoidance of common type errors. Building on the fundamentals students work with increasingly complex projects involving hierarchy and long-running text to continue learning how to effectively manage, select, space and size type.
