This course will introduce students to some of the basic concepts in evaluating and judging arguments and ideas and provide them with the skills to read and consume materials critically and carefully. Students will have the opportunity to engage with an assortment of formal and informal texts and be better able to evaluate the arguments they encounter daily on websites, blogs, television, videos, and other media. Participants will learn how to assess the validity of sources and arguments, look for reliable evidence, improve their media literacy, and develop and practice critical analysis.
