This introductory course provides students with a comprehensive overview of the community and social services sector, a field dedicated to supporting and enhancing the well-being of individuals, families, and communities. The course covers essential concepts and practices in community and social services, including social work, counseling, community development, advocacy, and non-profit management, as well as the challenges and opportunities facing social service providers. Through workshops, panel discussions, learning labs, case studies, and inter-professional events, students will learn about the various roles and responsibilities of professionals working to address social issues and promote social justice, and gain insights into current issues and trends in community and social services.
