This course continues the exploration of the social world through a sociological lens. Through engaging lectures, interactive small group activities and exercises, audio-visual supports and self-directed research assignments, students analyze a range of topics, including the family, religion, education, mass media, health, aging, social movements, and political organization. This course promotes the critical study of power and inequality. Students who successfully complete both Introduction to Sociology 1 and 2 will be able to critically and reasonably assess and understand the constants and the changes in their social world by applying elements of classic sociological theory and current Canadian examples. This course is only for students in the General Arts & Science program.
