Students learn the history of hearing aids, basic principles of electronics and circuitry, and how this relates to the circuitry of hearing devices and styles of hearing aids. Students apply this knowledge to choose the appropriate hearing device for a patient profile, and how to compare the benefits and limitations of each hearing aid style. Hands-on experience with different manufacturers and styles of hearing aids is acquired. Lastly, students learn how to properly and safely take an earmold impression, implementing the principles of infection control and informed consent to practice.
