Performance management is a strategic, interactive and on-going process designed to contribute to organizational success and create a work environment in which people are enabled to perform to the best of their abilities. It integrates organizational, departmental and individual goals with performance standards and provides a framework in which managers can support their team members. This course will explore the various elements of the employee performance management process, including performance planning, performance facilitation, performance assessment and performance improvement. Students will also review how performance management is linked to other human resources (HR) functions, examine the issues involved in implementing and evaluating a performance management process and explore HR's role in supporting individuals and departments in making the process work effectively.
