The food and beverage industry is a vital sector in hospitality and tourism and impacts many sectors in the hospitality and tourism industry. This introductory course exposes students to the key food and beverage concepts, procedures, and trends influencing the hospitality industry. Students will learn food and beverage service styles while analyzing the appropriateness of each based on the needs of customers, concepts, and other service criteria. This course will take an in-depth look into food and beverage concepts both within the commercial and non-commercial sectors, and career paths students can pursue within this sector. Further to service concepts, students will explore current trends and how they influence a guest's food and beverage experience, dietary restrictions, and how the global environment contributes to the food and beverage industry.
