Successful organizations create a positive company culture and develop high performance teams in order to achieve their goals and objectives. In this course, students will examine the importance, the challenges, and the opportunities encountered when effectively managing human resources and leading organizations in the evolving tourism and hospitality industry. Students will be introduced to human resources policies, procedures, and practices which relate to planning and selection, laws affecting the workplace, and performance management. Next, students will review critical leadership skills and gain an understanding of the theory needed to become an effective business leader examining best practices and emerging topics. Students will be provided with the opportunity to reflect on and deepen their understanding of their personal leadership styles in order to enhance their leadership development. Concepts will be explored using various methods including self-assessments, case studies, and practical examples.
