Art, Politics and Activism

Course Code: HUMA 2018

Academic Year: 2025-2026

In our increasingly globalized world, artists often engage with politically charged social, cultural, and global issues through their art, and the works they produce challenge us to broaden our awareness, to think, and in some instances, to act. Drawing on both historical and contemporary examples from around the world, and taking into consideration the perspectives of artists and viewers, students explore the politics of the everyday and the ways in which politically engaged artists have used their art as a form of activism.
