Course Code: IDSN 2005
Academic Year: 2025-2026
The development of Industrial Design has become increasingly human-centered, and in consequence the majority of considerations and innovations that designers need to consider become part of human factors. This course develops the connection between Human Factors and Industrial Design. A wide range of topics are introduced including: anthropometry, percentiles, physical measurement, function, quality, communication factors and universal design principles. These topics form a mental framework of the course in 3 levels: scope, theory and application. By thinking of human factors from multiple perspectives, students learn not only to understand how, but also why we design for people.
