Students are introduced to the practice of sports reporting in Canada. Through readings, viewings, and discussion, they explore the historical development of sports reportage and its modern iterations through all digital media platforms, as well as traditional print and broadcast media. Sideline reporting, colour commentary, game summary reporting and the importance of data analysis and statistics in sports coverage are key components in this course. Sports journalists attend guest speaker sessions to discuss their professional practices and industry demands.
