This course builds upon the skills students gained in fundamentals to deepen their understanding of storytelling and reporting. Students will develop an ability to craft compelling story synopses and pitches, and learn the art of sourcing and maintaining contacts. They will hone skills in both spot and feature story formats, editing to CP style, capturing visuals to enhance narratives, and producing follow-up story angles. Students will discuss crucial topics such as bias and systemic racism in Canadian media, and gain practical skills in conducting ethical interviews and learn to frame questions and shape an interview guided by ethical and legal.
