This course will examine advanced topics in music production technology through practical application, lectures, discussion, demonstrations and research. Assessments will be assignment - oriented and students will keep journals as they expand their knowledge and reflect on what they have learned. Topics include the audio signal path, components and features of professional audio interfaces, home studio acoustics, the design and implementation of DI boxes, the theory of the design of various professional microphone types, followed by emphasis on the practical application and exploration on a wide variety of musical instruments. Students will discover and share credible resources for music production technology and techniques, and participate in workshops on music production software.
