Strong sound engineering skills are fundamental for capturing engaging music recordings. While considering the emotion of a composition or performance, students will evaluate various microphones and recording techniques through practical experimentation, critical listening, analysis and dialogue. Students will demonstrate engineering best-practices including proper equipment handling, appropriate mic selection and placement, effective signal flow management, suitable monitoring configuration, and strong communication skills using professional terminology. Through audio theory research projects, discussion, equipment dissections, and authentic learning activities, students will develop essential recording and troubleshooting skills.
