This course will examine advanced issues in music production technology through practical application, lectures, discussion, demonstrations and research. Assessments will be assignment - oriented and students will keep journals as they expand their knowledge and reflect on what they have learned. Topics include the practical application of microphones on a wide variety of musical instruments, the advantages and disadvantages of different professional headphone and loudspeaker designs, how loudspeaker performance is evaluated, digital audio and analogue tape recording, effective mix workflow on Pro Tools and more in - depth knowledge of mastering.
