Academic Year: 2025-2026
Live music performances require effective amplified sound in order to engage audiences. Through discussion, demonstration, site visits and hands-on workshops, students experience planning, procuring, safely assembling, and operating live sound reinforcement systems for small-to-medium sized performance spaces. Students will create and evaluate stage plots, liaise with performers, coordinate equipment lists, run soundchecks and mix live musical performances using a variety of equipment and tools. Authentic learning activities will encourage students to employ professional communication and troubleshooting skills from both performer and sound engineer contexts and empower students to host their own live events in a variety of spaces.
