This course introduces the student to the dynamic concept of tourism and hospitality marketing and sales. The consumer has endless choices and a key responsibility of successful marketing is to maximize revenues. Students will be exposed to effective market strategies from the marketing environments, the marketing mix, the unique characteristics of services marketing, and marketing research. In addition, this course will introduce students to the consultative selling process and essential concepts required to sell tangible products and intangible services. Sales techniques will be covered so that students become aware of the motivational needs of the client and the importance of building trusting relationships. Students will have an opportunity to explore the dynamics of the sales process through role play and other experiential techniques so as to develop hands-on skills related to the consultative selling process.
