Contemporary issues and practices in professional music production will be examined and discussed, emphasizing the interplay of creativity, technology and business strategy. Key topics include Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), entrepreneurship, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, modern distribution methods, research methodologies, critical listening, and business practices for creatives. Through a combination of curated readings, discussions, and independent research, students will critically engage with the evolving music production landscape. By the end of the course, students will have developed the skills and insights necessary to navigate and contribute meaningfully to the industry while fostering innovation, resilience and well-being in their professional lives.
