This course introduces students to the fundamentals of photographic and video theory, practice, and storytelling techniques. Students think and work visually using a variety of digital media. They use image capture as a tool in self-expression, visual communication, and creativity. Using a variety of digital image capture devices, students learn how to write image descriptions, use design and composition, tell stories, and cover events on location under various available lighting conditions. Photoshop, visual communication, and online production are included in the course. Preparing students to tell stories through digital image capture ensures a wide range of employability in communications. Students work toward developing a personal visual portfolio of unique and original content.
