This course is a continuation of MUS 1006. It is designed to develop musical sensitivity and practical skills through a variety of exercises in listening, singing, playing, and transcribing. Students will continue to master basic rudiments of melody, harmony, and rhythm and acquire the skills necessary for simple melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic transcription as well as sight singing. Topics to include: compound intervals, complex rhythms, modes of the minor scales, non-diatonic melodies, and 4- and 5-part harmonies.
