Building on the experience and knowledge gained in MUS 3004, this course continues to evolve music production practices, in a variety of styles, through theoretical discussion and practical application. Students will gain further practical experience performing and producing in a professional recording studio environment. Along with the continued refinement of Digital Audio Workstation editing practices, the fundamentals of dynamic, spectral, and time-based signal processing will be introduced and experienced through assigned projects, lectures and demonstrations. Furthermore, the techniques and approaches implemented in the Mixing and Mastering phases of the production process will be discussed in greater detail. Upon completion of this course, students should have a comprehensive understanding of the recording process, the technical options available to them as recording artists and core aspects of pre-production and post-production.
