This course is centered on the theoretical and practical application of the bona fide physical and occupational requirements of a police officer. Students will be learning appropriate fitness skills and techniques to increase and/or maintain an overall physical fitness level that will allow the student to work towards attempting, and ideally achieving, the standards of policing fitness as required. Students will be learning about potential health problems, such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, back injuries and other common injuries, and how to prevent, manage and treat those conditions. Also, students will learn about the implications of shift work and the importance of sleep for health benefits.
