The Love of Wisdom: An Introduction to Philosophy

Course Code: PHIL 150

Academic Year: 2024-2025

If you were to think of your mind as a tool and then worked tirelessly at perfecting it, would you be able to figure out everything you need to know in life? If you were to dare to become wise before you grew old, how on earth would you go about doing it? Over the last two-and-a-half thousand years, some philosophers from the Western tradition have thought that the sky is the limit, while others have thought that we're lost without help from above. Still others have thought that Truth might not even be so important so long as you put your mind towards living as authentically as possible. By reading through a brief history of philosophers, we will, in this course, be considering these and other answers in an exploration of some of the most fundamental questions that thoughtful humans have and will always be forced to contend with.
