Fundamentals of Construction Project Management

Students study project management in construction projects and baseline knowledge of the concepts and tools and techniques required to manage construction projects. Students explore the construction industry best practices and local regulatory framework, and the methodology of managing projects as recommended by the Project Management Institute (PMI). Students learn construction project environment, advances in construction, regulatory framework and key issues of initiating, planning, executing, monitoring & controlling, and closing of a construction project. Students examine key concepts/tools such as modern technologies and methods, constructability, value engineering, HSSE, cost management, execution strategy, site management and claim management. The course also covers Ontario Construction Act, CCDC form of contracts, and construction bonds and insurance.
