Course Code: POLS 2350

Academic Year: 2024-2025

Climate change will massively shape the 21st century, but how severe will it become? How many people will be seriously impacted? How the world responds to climate disasters is still within our power. This makes climate change a deeply moral and political issue. This course introduces students to climate change through the complex moral challenges it raises and the variety of political struggles that occur in response to them. Topics to be covered include climatology and denialism, climate impacts in developing countries, global climate agreements, carbon pricing and mitigation policy, climate refugees, popular movements, Indigenous sovereignty movements and pipelines in North America, and sustainable economic models.
