What was the age of empires? How do empires continue to impact nations and societies around the world today? How are peoples across Africa, Latin America, Asia, the Middle East, and North America recovering from, and resisting, on-going colonial forces? What social, political, and economic impacts do these decolonizing movements entail? Throughout this course, students explore diverse case studies, delving into the challenges and transformations encountered by societies ranging from Africa to Asia and beyond. By studying these historical narratives, students gain insights into the legacies of empires and the complex processes of societal reconstruction in their wake.
