This course will introduce students to some of the theories and issues central to the study of global politics. The course will be divided into two parts. The first part will focus on international relations theory as well as significant historical developments that have shaped the contemporary global political environment. In the second part of the course, the focus will shift to major topics of study in global politics today, including security, international development, demographic transitions, the environment and resources and global governance. Throughout the course, case studies will be used to highlight specific issues.
