This course provides students with the in-depth knowledge of Canadian government machinery they need to build successful careers in Canadas public sector. Government machinery is defined here as the key structures, processes and people involved in making and implementing decisions about the public good. The course focuses on eight categories of machinery in Canada: the Crown; the legislature (elections, law-making, and accountability); the political executive (cabinet and intergovernmental relations); the permanent executive (departments, agencies, boards and commissions); municipal government; First Nations government; judicial administration; relations with the non-profit sector.
