Orientation to Government and the Public Sector

This course allows students to develop an overview of all three levels of Canadian government federal, provincial and municipal. After being introduced to the history of parliamentary government in Canada, students will use a mix of class discussions, assignments, and presentations to document and describe the main elements of Canadas federal, provincial and municipal governments. These elements include the formal-legal framework, the legislative process, the strategic mandate, the political and permanent executives, and the broader public sector.
