This course provides a theoretical, hands-on introduction to the fundamentals of digital media formats and content creation. Students will use encoding software to ingest and transcode content from various sources and camera formats and deliver content to various platforms. Students will acquire an advanced understanding of the technical traits of digital video and audio and digital workflows. Course work will provide a foundational, theoretical examination of the process of digitization and the specifics of digital audio and video, including codecs, formats, frame rates, resolution, bit depth and aspect. This builds to practical, hands-on exercises, which implement the practical aspects of working with multiple formats and delivering to multiple platforms.
