In this course, students explore the globalized nature of organized crime and terrorism, and Canada's law enforcement apparatus that is in place to combat these threats. Students will identify legal definitions of organized crime and terrorism, study prominent criminal organizations and terrorist groups that impact Canada, learn about key markets and activities of criminal organizations and terrorist groups, and analyze the organized crime-terrorism nexus. Students will examine Canada's law enforcement apparatus, with a focus on the role that Canadian police and intelligence agencies play in the fight against organized crime and terrorism. Students will also examine Canada's key international law enforcement partners and international legal regimes that are indispensable in this era of global crime.
