This course is designed to provide the student with a practical understanding and methodology to the implementation of physical security systems to protect and secure all types of buildings and associated property, to promote a safe and secure environment for both the public and staff. This includes a basic understanding of the operation of these physical security systems and the data captured, and more importantly how this data can assist with the investigation of a crime or a security incident. The course will introduce students to the application of mechanical and electrical security devices. Course topics will initiate an understanding of security system types and methods used to deter, detect, delay and respond to a breach of a monitored security system.
