Modern-day security managers need to be well versed in a broad range of security and business-related matters. This course equips students with the tools needed to operate an efficient security department. Focusing on private security operations, students explore topics such as the connections between project management and risk management, hiring practices, differences between unionized and non-unionized work environments, budgeting, vulnerability identification, employee relations, and financial forecasting. Students learn about the security manager's role in integrating physical and IT security, as well as how and when to interact with public law enforcement, such as police and other emergency first-responders.
