Course Code: PSYC 2000
Academic Year: 2025-2026
This course is designed to answer the question "How do we become the people we are today?". In it, students will be introduced to theories and research findings in the field of lifespan developmental psychology. Organized topically, we will examine development from conception to death from three perspectives: biological changes, cognitive changes, and socioemotional changes. Students will learn about the development of intelligence, language, self, identity, personality, and gender across the human lifespan, taking into account the important contextual influences of family and culture. As is fitting for a course on lifespan development, we will end with an examination of death, dying, and ways of grieving.
